And we are done!

The challenge is over... we did so well, we made it thru the whole 10 days mostly meat free, we only had chicken one day in our yellow curry at tea rose diner, and like I said it wasn't even necessary. So with that said, we have a new plan.
Here it it;
Breakfast, and lunch will be 100% raw no cooking, no cheating! Dinner will be vegetarian, until Hailey comes home then we will do probably 2 or 3 meat meals. As long as it is under 500 calories we are thinking that we should be on track with regards to weight loss/maintaining.

So now what do I do with this blog? it can really be "Adventures in Becoming a Vegan" so we shall try to change the name and see what we can come up with, since we aren't going to be vegan 100% of the time. I am also going to use this blog to share our recipes, vegetarian and vegan.

And that's whats happening!

So far so good

We have been doing very well with this vegan challenge, Wednesday is the last day but we are going to finish off the week and then make the final decision on what we are going to do next. We are looking at doing a semi-vegan diet 2 raw/vegan meals, and then a dinner with mostly veggies and some meats. We will just have to figure out what works best for us.

We are making another trip to the Tea Rose Diner on Thursday and this time we will do the full vegan dishes.

Day 6!

We have been doing really well we have not let one piece of "non vegan" food into our bodies in 6 days! Today we cheated, But it was SO worth it, we were told to try out the Tea Rose Diner in Murray for some Thai food it was the best thing we have eaten in a really long time (at least 6 days) They rate their spice one a 1-10 scale 10 being the hottest, we ordered a 1 and then the waitress brought us the 2 on the side, I didnt try it, but Liz said it was HOT. We are planning on going back in a few weeks. We did order the Pad See-Ewe "vegan" style with tofu, but the yellow curry we added chicken it was so good we highly recommend it, you really don't even need the chicken, so next time we will do that vegan style also I took a picture mid meal.

We did our grocery shopping too, check out all our groceries for the next week;

There is 2 Watermelons 2 Golden Honeydew melons, and 3 Cantaloupe underneath all that.

Heres to another 4 more days!!

Weight loss...

We are half way done with our 10 day raw vegan trial and that means today we weigh in and so far so good!! Liz lost 3.2 pounds and I lost 4.1 pounds. So it looks like we will stick it out for the duration of the adventure! With numbers like we would be silly not too!

We did not just eat fruits and vegetables and lose weight, oh no (if it were only so easy) Liz spends an hour a day at PureWorkout (click to check it out) and I spend 40 minutes here at home on the treadmill running. But it is totally worth it!

We figured out that we don't have any cravings what so ever because we are getting everything our body needs from all the produce that we are consuming. Of course I wanted candy, but that was just because I saw it and wanted it. While I was at home I wasn't thinking "oh I could really go for a gummie bear..."
When you eat processed foods your body is craving something different then what your head is asking for.
So on day 5 of 10 I would have to say that this is a good thing! We would however like to switch to just "Vegan" instead of "raw Vegan" there are not too many raw options out there. There is only so many things you can do with a salad!

This weekend will be the ultimate challenge for us we have a big to do list and usually we would stop and get something to eat and that just cant happen right now, so lots of planning and preparations will have to be made just to spent the day away from the house.

Day 4

Thursday was good... Nothing to exciting to report for day 4. We ate much of the same thing, green smoothie, and fruit, and salad... same old thing.

Weds. Day 3

Becoming a vegan takes alot of preparation and planning, much more then being a meat eater. Yesterday we needed to go shopping AGAIN, I was doing fine I hadn't had any cravings at all but then I went into Winco... if you have ever been in a Winco then you know that they have an awesome bulk section which includes CANDY my weakness, I have not even thought about candy or anything sweet in 3 days but that all went out the window when I saw all the colors of sparkling chewy goodness we hurried up grabbed our dates and carob chips and ran for the exit. Then we went to Walmart to get some more produce, they didnt have mango's or watermelon but we didn't find a few things.

For dinner we just had a plate of fruits and veggies, with some hummus if you haven't tried the Athenos 3 pepper Hummus you really need to go and get some it is really good, even Liz likes it and she doesn't like any hummus.

Besides my addiction to the Winco candy section, Liz is feeling a little run down and worn out, after talking with her trainer she is upping her food intake and hopefully that will help with that. Other then those 2 things life without meat has not been so bad.

3 days down 7 more to go!!

Day two

Tuesday went well, there are no withdraw symptoms that we have noticed, except for waking up in the middle of the night, for no apparent reason. Yesterday I took photos of all of our food, except for the snacks so here it is;
Breakfast, smoothie with banana, blueberries, ground flax seed, hemp milk and spinach
Lunch, organic mixed greens, tomato, avocado, almonds, and carrots with a homemade vinaigrette, and berries.
Dinner, melon, strawberries, and cherries, Mexican stuffed bell peppers from the the Happy Herbivore

2 days down 8 more to go!
